As a Staff Software Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing digital solutions that address mission-critical business challenges and support Walmart associates worldwide.

As part of Walmart Global Tech's Enterprise Business Services, People Technology is dedicated to building a compact, robust organization that delivers integrated service operations and technology solutions for Finance, People, and the Associate Digital Experience.
What You'll Do:
· Partner closely with cross-functional teams-including business, product, and engineering-to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
· Design, build, test, and deploy reliable, high-performance backend microservices and systems in a cloud-native environment.
· Contribute to data platform and integration initiatives, ensuring seamless data flow and consistency across services.
· Participate in design and code reviews, driving best practices for quality, maintainability, and operational excellence.
· Own and deliver large-scale, distributed backend systems that meet performance and availability goals.
· Collaborate across the stack when needed, and help shape architecture and technical direction for the team
What You'll Bring:
· 8+ years of hands-on experience building scalable, reliable backend systems in a production environment.
· Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, with a solid grasp of microservices architecture.
· Experience with event-driven systems, particularly Kafka.
· Familiarity with NoSQL databases, such as Cosmos DB, and relational data stores.
· Exposure to front-end development is a plus.
· Proven experience owning features end-to-end-from design and development to deployment and monitoring.
· Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and operational excellence best practices.
· Comfort working in a cloud-native environment.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed trade-offs between speed and quality.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively with product managers, designers, and other engineers.
