Ally and Your Career
*
Ally Financial only succeeds when its people do - and that's more than some cliché people put on job postings. We live this stuff! We see our people as, well, people - with interests, families, friends, dreams, and causes that are all important to them. Our focus is on the health and safety of our teammates as well as work-life balance and diversity and inclusion. From generous benefits to a variety of employee resource groups, we strive to build paths that encourage employees to stretch themselves professionally. We want to help you grow, develop, and learn new things. You're constantly evolving, so shouldn't your opportunities be, too?
The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly technical and analytically driven data scientist or pricing analyst to join our Remarketing Pricing team. This role is central to the development, testing, and deployment of data-driven pricing strategies across multiple vehicles remarketing channels, including Dealer Buyout (DBO), SmartAuction (SA), and Physical Auction (PA).
You will work as part of a cross-functional team to design and operationalize pricing engines, support robust data pipelines, and deliver scalable solutions to optimize vehicle remarketing performance. The ideal candidate is not only a strategic thinker but also a hands-on developer, capable of building production-ready code and collaborating across technical and business functions.
This is a highly technical role with a focus on Python (Pandas, Snowpark, NumPy), Snowflake, Power BI and SQL, and requires someone with experience in data modeling, transformation, and automation.
The Work Itself
Manage competing priorities while delivering measurable results on time, with a strong focus on clean and reusable code
Collaborate with business, analytics, and technology partners to ensure alignment and integration of pricing tools into broader remarketing operations
Act as the technical subject matter expert for pricing logic, data pipelines, and business rules
Build and maintain reporting solutions (in Python, Power BI and Sigma dashboards) to track key pricing metrics
Support continuous testing, performance monitoring, and model validation of deployed strategies
Own the development and deployment of pricing strategies through production-grade analytical workflows
Refactor and modernize legacy pricing logic and reporting processes into efficient, testable, and modular code
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and pricing models using Snowpark Python and Snowflake SQL
Build and maintain pricing algorithms that support remarketing decisions across DBO, SA, and PA channels
The Skills You Bring
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Economics or related field required (Master's preferred)
3+ years of hands-on analytics experience in data-intensive roles-ideally in Auto Finance, Pricing, or Remarketing
Proficiency in Python, particularly with Pandas, NumPy, and Snowpark
Strong experience with Snowflake (including Snowpark for Python), SQL, and data warehouse design patterns
Comfortable building data models, pricing algorithms, and ETL workflows from scratch
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills; able to take ownership of ambiguous problems and solve them end-to-end
Clear communicator-able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally
High level of personal accountability with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Experience with Power BI, Git, Jupyter, and working in agile environments is a plus
