Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Santa Ana, California. This role is integral to overseeing general accounting functions, managing financial transactions, and supporting the organization's mission-driven operations. Responsibilities:

Process and manage accounts payable, including check requests, reimbursements, and credit card transactions to ensure timely payments.

Communicate with vendors, maintain accurate invoice and payment records, and oversee vendor documentation.

Post payroll journal entries and handle 403(b) remittances efficiently.

Administer student tuition billing, collections, and payment plans, including follow-ups on overdue accounts.

Manage corporate work study partner billing and ensure accurate payment postings.

Record income sources such as donor contributions, tuition payments, and work study funds to the general ledger.

Prepare month-end journal entries, reconcile accounts, and generate financial statements and budget reports.

Assist the business office in tracking restricted fund expenditures, preparing audit materials, and supporting annual budgeting.

Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent experience is required.

At least three years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment and accounts payable.

Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in work.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software such as QuickBooks Online.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills paired with a detail-oriented and collaborative demeanor.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.

Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
