Description We are looking for a meticulous Payroll Accountant to support our finance operations in Ada, Michigan. This contract position will focus on managing payroll for a team of approximately 50 employees, overseeing benefits administration, and handling accounts payable activities. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in payroll processes and accounting systems, with a preference for experience using BS& A software.
Responsibilities:
Process bi-weekly payroll for a staff of approximately 50 employees, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Address payroll discrepancies and resolve employee inquiries regarding deductions or payments.
Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement plans, while maintaining accurate enrollment and termination records.
Act as a point of contact between the organization and benefit providers to resolve issues or clarify details.
Manage accounts payable tasks such as invoice processing, payment approvals, and vendor communications.
Perform monthly reconciliations and produce detailed accounts payable reports.
Assist in general ledger reconciliations and support financial reporting activities.
Ensure adherence to municipal financial policies and regulatory standards.
Utilize BS& A software or equivalent systems to streamline accounting operations and maintain accurate records. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in payroll processing, benefits administration, and accounts payable.
Proficiency with BS& A software or similar financial management systems is highly desirable.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite programs.
Excellent organizational and time-management capabilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, vendors, and management.
Knowledge of payroll tax reporting, garnishments, and compliance requirements.
