Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join our team in Woodland Hills, California. This role focuses on manufacturing accounting, cost analysis, and inventory management, offering a chance to make a significant impact within a dynamic steel manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting month-end close processes, and driving cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities:

Manage and validate metal receipts, addressing discrepancies in pricing, purchase orders, and non-receipts.

Collaborate with vendors and plant teams to resolve issues related to Advance Shipping Notifications.

Analyze and report metal price variances, ensuring accurate customer pass-through documentation.

Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for areas such as rebates, tariffs, freight, and metal in transit.

Oversee vendor claims processing, collections, and compile monthly executive reports.

Review and investigate monthly freight invoices, resolving discrepancies and ensuring proper accruals.

Maintain accurate records for metal coil receipts with outside processors and set up standard costs for steel coils.

Perform utility invoice reconciliations and share findings with plant operations teams.

Support ad hoc financial projects and contribute to process improvements within the Operations Accounting team.

Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to enhance cost accounting practices and financial visibility. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing or inventory-focused roles.

Proficiency in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or similar ERP systems.

Advanced Excel skills, including expertise in pivot tables and complex reconciliation models.

Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.

Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving results and solving problems.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
