Position Summary
Performs moderately complex (journey-level) data collection, data analysis, and research work in the direct support of Communications Technology Services and collaboration with the Telecom AR/AP Manager. Identifies and interprets data patterns and trends and assesses data quality. Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations on data revisions. Works under general supervision of the Chief Data Officer, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
Collects, queries, and analyzes Telecom cost management data, using standard data analysis and visualization , enhancing visibility into financial performance.
Analyzes Telecom service provider invoice data to detect anomalies, ensure data integrity, and identify contractual non-compliance.
Contributes to cost management strategies through data-driven prioritization of billing dispute workloads.
Prepares and manages comprehensive technical reports to support billing dispute resolution and inform financial decision-making.
Consults with the Telecom AR/AP team, Telecom Operations, Telecom Contracts, Information Technology Services, and external service providers to align analytics with financial goals.
Assists in developing data quality measures and implements changes for improvement, as well as establishing reporting standards across business units.
Cleans and curates Telecom data to enhance financial reporting accuracy.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
Additional work-related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis (High-school diploma required.
Experience and Training Required
Three (3) years of professional experience in data collection, management, analytics, statistical analysis, or related area that required knowledge of a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures.
Two (2) years of academic or professional experience in policy research, planning, assessment, and report writing.
Experience with spreadsheets, databases, and data visualization or business intelligence tools.
Experience and Training Preferred
Experience with data collection, management, analytics, and statistical analysis related to technology initiatives and implementation.
Experience working for a government entity.
Experience using Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Salesforce, or other similar tools
Experience with relational databases.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of statistics and analyzing data sets; running queries, report writing, and presenting findings of data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques; and record keeping, including security procedures for handling, protecting, and distributing confidential data.
Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills; including the ability to identify and implement effective solutions and best practices.
Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills
Skill in conducting data searches, in evaluating and translating large amounts of data. Demonstrated ability to work on concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment while effectively prioritizing and coordinating work assignments.
