Avionics Engineer

The Opportunity:

When our country's cybersecurity is on the line, simply reacting is not enough - we need a plan. And when that plan needs to protect our nation's airborne networks, we need a proactive way to discover and validate options to facilitate our defense. That's why we need you, an avionics tech with the expertise required to analyze system dependencies, determine requirements, integrate avionics hardware, and maintain a nominal operating environment in a hardware-in-the-loop simulation lab.

As an Avionics Tech / Engineer of airborne platforms and ground support systems, you'll review systems to identify requirements, system dependencies and potential areas of security weakness. You'll review technical and environmental details from subject matter experts, engineering documentation, and engineers to help recommend testing priorities. Once priorities have been determined, you will work with the team internally to develop and execute an integration strategy for any test bed modifications that are required. Your expertise will be invaluable during post testing data aggregation and reporting, when the team needs to understand how and why the equipment behaves or reacts the way it does in a specific configuration.

On our team, you'll identify the right mix of tools and techniques to perform engineering duties in designing, constructing, and testing aircraft and asso cia ted ground equipment. You may c ond uct basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to aircraft avionics design. Recommend improvements in testing equipment and techniques. You'll research, design, develop, test, the installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commer cia l or military use. Your expertise will have a direct impact to securing our skies for the future.

You Have:

5+ years of experience as an avionics techni cia n

Experience with electronics test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, multimeters, or spectrum analyzers

Experience with ARINC 429 bus communication protocols

Knowledge of aircraft avionics and instrument systems, aircraft wiring diagrams, technical manuals, component maintenance manuals, and general electrical concepts

Knowledge of security requirements for connected and non-connected systems and unclassified and classified systems

Ability to work alone or in a team environment

Ability to be self-Motivated, time conscious, and goal oriented

Ability to solder, fabricate wiring harnesses, and t race leads

Top Secret clearance

Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

Experience with the NIST Security controls and asso cia ted RMF documentation

Experience in Python scripting or other sof tware development languages

Experience with Avionics system data loading

Experience with MIL-1553 Bus communication protocols

Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing skills a plus

DoD IAM or IAT Level II Certification

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information ; Top Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
