The Admissions Office is looking for a full time Recruitment & Admissions Specialist I who is excited to have a positive impact on people's lives to join their team. In Admissions, our team is passionate about developing student friendly processes and delivering a high-level student service experience.
As our Recruitment & Admissions Specialist I, you are supporting applicants through the admission process of our Health-related programs ensuring program requirements are completed and that there is a smooth transition from application to enrollment and program registration. This will be achieved by assisting in the screening and qualifying of applicants according to program admission criteria while helping to manage all aspects of recruiting and admissions, evaluating coordinating with appropriate team members, and ensuring timely and accurate documentation is obtained and recorded in our required data bases. Furthermore, you will also assist the Admissions team in daily communication such as phones, reports, emails, walk-ins and scheduling requests.

Essential Job Functions
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Health Program Specific Recruitment & Admissions
Supports recruitment efforts and serves as primary point of contact for admission questions regarding the Dental Hygiene, Medical Assistant, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Respiratory Care programs.
Schedules and facilitates Dental Hygiene, Medical Assistant, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Respiratory Care program informational sessions.
Reviews and evaluates applicant materials (assessment scores, transcripts, academic performance, and supplemental documents) for multiple healthcare programs to determine eligibility, while continuously monitoring progress and updating statuses using internal reporting systems and spreadsheets for assigned Health programs.
Corresponds with applicants face to face, over the phone, or via email regarding admission process, program requirements, and eligibility status.
Collaborates with academic departments and academic advisors to ensure all have a shared understanding of applicant progress.
General Recruitment & Admissions
Assists in the coordination and processes of the acceptance of applications for admissions and updates appropriately in student information system.
Provides accurate information to prospective and current students, parents, and the general public on Hawkeye Community College's programs, degrees, application processes, financial aid information, and student referrals.
Communicates with students and team daily regarding admissions processes and their admission status.
Verifies and provides follow-up to students regarding their application status, admissions inquiries and requirements via on-site visits, phone, text and email.
Generates, maintains, updates and analyzes various reports.
Processes daily communication management documents for prospective and admitted students
May assist with the coordination of group visits and on campus events through the Admissions office.
Serves as a back-up to both the Recruitment & Admissions Representative and Associate Director of Admissions - Enrollment Services in their absence.
Participates in campus committees as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye's remote work policy, regular on campus and/or onsite attendance is considered an essential function of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors' degree with one year of related experience OR Associates degree and 3 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience totaling five (5) years.
Demonstrated experience with planning and managing projects
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in presentations and one-on-one with students and parents.
Demonstrated ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends as needed.
Must possess a current driver's license valid in the State of Iowa and a driving record insurable by the College's insurer.
Demonstrated ability to travel to and from appointments.
Demonstrated ability to work with a wide array of students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
Demonstrated ability to perform critical thinking, troubleshoot tasks, and analyze data with a high attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to exhibit professional judgment and use problem-solving skills.
Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and video conferencing technology.
Demonstrated ability to execute organization and department policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.
Demonstrated ability of effective organizational skills to manage multiple and shifting tasks/demands, policies and procedures to meet timely deadlines and/or program criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and/or experience in academic advising, college admissions policies and practices, or a similar role.
Community college experience.
Working Conditions
Anticipated schedule is Monday - Friday from 8am - 4:30pm with occasional evening and Saturday hours to assist with recruitment/enrollment efforts.
Work is performed either in or a combination of an office setting and/or classroom setting using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move frequently during working hours. During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.
Employment Status
Full-time non-exempt position with comprehensive or competitive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance, a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expenses; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; tuition reimbursement / remission; and a choice of retirement programs-IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution).
Wages are determined by considering an applicant's education and experience.
The wage range for this position begins at $20.96 per hour (approximately $43,600 annually).
