Job Description Summary
GE Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated Lead Process Engineer to drive innovation and optimize processes for Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) in advanced manufacturing environments. This role requires a self-starter with strong CAD/NX experience and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in achieving excellence in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC). The Lead Process Engineer will analyze process performance, spearhead continuous improvement initiatives, and enable operations teams to achieve world-class results. This position is located in Springdale, OH and supports our BladeworX development lab that specializes High Pressure Turbine blades focusing on NPI (New Product Introduction), process improvement, and technical support for the Turbine Airfoils Value Stream (TAVS).
This position could require up to 20% travel to support our high-volume shops at Auburn, AL, Madisonville, KY, Greenville, SC, & Muskegon, MI.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize EDM machining programs using G&M Code, C++, and/or C#.
Utilize advanced CAD tools to design and develop tooling solutions and process layouts.
Analyze and troubleshoot EDM processes to ensure maximum efficiency and quality.
Create and maintain detailed planning, processes, and work instructions.
Lead process validation activities and ensure compliance with rigorous change management protocols.
Train and empower operators and technicians in EDM techniques to maximize yield and equipment capability.
Establish baseline operational parameters, manage recipes, and drive process capability enhancements.
Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to address challenges and implement improvements.
Troubleshoot and prove-out processes and programs, direct process validation activities, and validate work using multiple techniques.
Work autonomously and collaboratively to identify needs, develop validation plans, and provide proactive support to meet manufacturing requirements.
Lead problem-solving initiatives through structured methodologies in a collaborative team environment.
Collaborate with various levels of business partners, stakeholders, and peers to ensure effective upstream and downstream interactions and/or impacts.
Exhibit ownership and take responsibility for attaining all aspects of production operation, including safety, scheduling, quality, delivery, and team development in assigned areas.
Support shop floor operations to meet production goals while fostering a collaborative workforce environment.
?Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or high school diploma/GED with 4 years of EDM machining experience)
At least 3 additional years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
Desired Characteristics:
Proficiency in programming 3, 4, & 5-axis CNC machines and EDM equipment.
Advanced knowledge of GD&T and ability to interpret technical drawings
Strong CAD experience with proficiency in designing tooling and process layouts
