Posting Summary As the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics (DAFRE) expands its offerings with the new Agricultural Business and Food Systems (ABFS) major, there is a critical need to enhance both student engagement and co-curricular learning opportunities. The ABFS program is a collaborative effort with the Departments of Human Ecology and Family and Community Health Sciences, combining a strong natural and social scientific foundation with business skills and preparing students to address the challenges of modern agriculture, food systems, and food security. DAFRE's long-standing reputation for developing strong analytical, business, and data skills will continue to be a hallmark of the ABFS program.However, DAFRE faces a significant gap in teaching resources, exacerbated by the loss of teaching staff and loss in revenue potential from a dormant 5-year B.S. + M.S. Food and Business Economics (M.Sc.) Program. As ABFS grows and the M.Sc. program is revived, additional teaching support is urgently needed. The proposed Non-Tenure Track (NTT) Assistant Teaching Professor position will play a pivotal role in filling this gap with the expectation that they will become Undergraduate Program Director (UPD) for ABFS, teach key courses, and create new co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities for students. This is a 12-month non-tenure-track faculty position. The expected starting date is September 1st, 2025.In the first year, the position will teach foundational courses and guest lectures in food systems, agribusiness, business finance, innovation and entrepreneurship, or related topics as aligned with expertise and departmental teaching needs. As UPD, the position will also provide crucial academic advising and support student retention and recruitment.
