Job Summary
Charles River Laboratories is seeking a seasoned Director of Digital Marketing Strategy & Growth Marketing to lead the strategy and development of digital marketing programs across the global organization. This senior leadership role will drive enterprise-wide digital transformation in marketing, with a strong focus on customer acquisition, engagement, digital demand generation, and marketing technology innovation in alignment with our business strategies.
As a strategic partner to the global Marketing organization, the Director will play a pivotal role in positioning Charles River as a digital-first, customer-centric leader in the life sciences sector. The ideal candidate is a visionary marketer with strong analytical skills, technical fluency, and proven success scaling digital initiatives in complex, matrixed organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Demand Generation & Growth Marketing
Lead the design and execution of omnichannel demand generation programs to drive qualified leads, pipeline acceleration, and customer retention across diverse business units.
Implement and refine account-based marketing (ABM), personalization strategies, and marketing automation workflows to improve conversion and ROI.
Define performance metrics and KPIs to evaluate campaign effectiveness, leveraging A/B testing, marketing analytics, and CRM integration.
Digital Experience & Content Strategy
Oversee the strategy for Charles River's digital platforms (e.g., website, landing pages, email, social, paid media) to deliver seamless, engaging experiences across the buyer journey.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external agencies to optimize content strategy and ensure alignment with SEO, thought leadership, and scientific storytelling goals.
Marketing Strategy, Leadership & Planning
Lead the development and ongoing refinement of a global marketing roadmap that aligns digital and growth marketing initiatives with corporate strategic goals, business unit priorities, and revenue targets.
Oversee annual and quarterly marketing planning cycles, coordinating with operational and strategic marketing teams to ensure cross-functional alignment, budget discipline, and resource allocation across campaigns, content, media, and technology.
Translate corporate objectives into actionable, measurable marketing plans that balance brand-building, demand generation, and customer experience goals.
Serve as a key liaison between Global Strategic Marketing, Commercial Operations, and Marketing Operations to ensure campaign integration and alignment with product launches, key initiatives, and customer milestones.
Establish consistent marketing planning processes, templates, and governance frameworks to ensure agility, scalability, and visibility across all functions.
Drive accountability through clear performance metrics, reporting cadences, and dashboards, enabling real-time insights and adjustments to optimize marketing ROI.
Partner with Market Intelligence team on scenario planning, market analysis, and competitive intelligence efforts to inform prioritization of initiatives, new opportunity development, and audience targeting strategies.
Partner with IT, data science, and commercial operations to refine data pipelines, segmentation models, lead scoring, and attribution frameworks. Champion a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making within the marketing function.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Build and lead a high-performing, globally distributed team of digital and growth marketing professionals.
Partner cross-functionally with commercial, strategic, scientific, and operational marketing teams to drive campaign adoption and ensure alignment with customer insights.
Coach, mentor, and develop talent to support organizational growth and succession planning.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; MBA or relevant Master's degree strongly preferred.
12+ years of experience in B2B digital marketing, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven success leading digital transformation and growth marketing in life sciences, or related technical industries.
Expertise in marketing technology platforms including CRM, Marketing Automation, analytics, and content management systems.
Strong understanding of demand generation, funnel metrics, buyer journey mapping, and performance marketing best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; experience working in a global matrixed environment is essential.
Demonstrated ability to drive change, innovate, and deliver measurable business impact through marketing strategy.
Compensation Data
The pay range for this position is $135,000K - $185,000K USD annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
