Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting a Senior Accountant to support our agriculture client on a 3+ month hybrid (3 days on-site) engagement based in the Los Angeles area. The Senior Accountant will report directly to Corporate Controller and VP of Accounting & Finance and will primarily provide support in accounting and financial reporting activities (including monthly/quarterly/annual closes and process improvement).

Responsibilities:

Perform month-end close processes, including preparing and posting journal entries, analyzing variances, and interpreting financial data.

Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Lead balance sheet reconciliations and develop actionable plans to resolve discrepancies.

Conduct thorough analysis of accounting transactions and financial reports, providing clear variance explanations.

Apply sound judgment to uphold compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Supervise, train, and mentor less experienced team members, offering guidance on technical accounting matters and career development.

Handle complex accounting tasks, such as 1031 exchanges, while serving as a resource for less experienced team members.

Collaborate with FP& A, treasury, and tax teams to support organizational initiatives and improve processes.

Participate in special projects, including audits, compliance efforts, and tax filings.

Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of corporate accounting operations.

Develop subject matter expertise for legal entities supported by the corporate accounting team.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

4-6 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex data analysis.

Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with excellent multitasking abilities.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for conveying financial information to diverse stakeholders.

Experience with major accounting systems, preferably Oracle.

Familiarity with working alongside internal and external auditors is preferred.
