Primary Objective of Position:
The primary objective of this position includes scope evaluation, estimate development, project planning and project management of assigned projects from concept to successful and safe completion.
This fast-paced, high profile and interactive role requires interaction with clients to interpret their needs, clarify expectations and requirements, and accurately communicate details and updates to the Proposal Development and Operation teams throughout the life of the project. Elements of project management include but not limited to; RFQ evaluation, scope evaluation and development, equipment and resource planning, budgeting, and turnkey execution, ensuring the project completes safely, on schedule and within budget.
This position is largely onsite at the project location, particularly during spring and fall outage season, with an estimated 50-75% travel. When not working on an assigned jobsite this will be a remote position with travel to the corporate office and client locations as required. This position requires past project management experience, exceptional communication skills, professionalism, financial acumen, strong safety leadership and strict confidentiality of all information associated with the company and project activity.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Perform site walk-downs and review RFQ opportunities as assigned. Play an integral role in the proposal development process, developing scope of work and required proposal contents for resource planning, budgeting, and execution to ensure project safety, quality and profitability.
Coordinate and monitor the transmission of submittal information and approvals inter-company as well as between company and clients and/or subcontractors throughout each project phase.
Coordinate project activities with the client/owner, subcontractors, and Company personnel.
Manage and document all scope of work activities, schedules, budget, change orders and technical specifications, ensuring compliance with company's quality system, policies, and procedures, while ensuring company's contractual obligations are met.
Manage the close-out process for assigned projects, including project close-out, reconciliation activities, lessons learned and final reports.
Responsible for collaborating with other functional teams throughout the project lifecycle to 1) ensure adequate definition of scope, cost, and schedule are established during the project development phase to allow for clear and measurable milestones throughout; 2) establish reasonable baselines; 3) identify and manage risk; and 4) analyze, monitor, and report on project performance as compared to the plan.
Travel and on-site project management as required.
Supervise and provide leadership for project management administrative staff as applicable to be consistent with the purpose of Electrical Builders Ind., including communication, training, making recommendations, coaching, timely performance feedback, corrective action and employee development.
Cultivate and maintain good relations with clients, Owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other company personnel. This is a critical role to the organization to ensure expectations and deliverables are clearly communicated and enforced.
Process Improvement - Supports the effort of ISO 9001 and process improvement by recommending methods, equipment, techniques and other changes to improve company operations. Participates in internal audits, risk assessment and corrective actions as required.
Availability - This position requires a variable work schedule based on project schedules and needs of the business including hours/days outside of typical hours that the corporate office or shop may be open. This includes the requirement to respond to calls to assigned company cell phone unless prior approval from manager is obtained for time off or "off the grid" travel. This does not restrict the use of time off from work and will only be required to report to work when emergency jobs are prevalent. Onsite project work schedules range from 6-10 to 7-24 schedules, depending on crew structure, scope and client requirements.
Performs any other work as apparent or assigned.
Qualifications for Entry:
Education; Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred (or equivalent)
5-7 years knowledge in the power generation services or industrial electrical industry
3-5 years experience as an onsite construction project manager with project P&L responsibility
Strong financial acumen
Knowledge in medium voltage electrical bus duct systems and transformer components preferred
Experience successfully managing union personnel
Ability to gain unescorted access to nuclear facilities
Demonstrated experience with relevant project estimating and project management software
Adept with Microsoft Office Suite including SharePoint/server file management
Expert with blueprints
Exceptional math, organization, analytical, writing and communication skills.
Proven ability to successfully multi-task and work under pressure to hit critical deadlines
Provide excellent customer experience
