Revenue Accounting & Operations Manager

NYPR is seeking a hands-on Revenue Accounting & Operations Manager to work with Development, Sponsorship, Self-Distribution and Business Development departments who will be responsible for accurate revenue recognition, reporting and analysis.
As the Revenue Accounting & Operations Manager, you are responsible for all aspects of revenue accounting and operations management. You will also support the company's financial policies and procedures, its accounting practice, maintenance of its fiscal records as well as ensuring organization wide compliance with general accounting controls and generally accepted accounting principles. Together with one direct report, the Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will manage timely and efficient cash application to support efficient periodic closes and reconciliations. You will also be a key support in the company's financial audits and preparation of annual tax returns.
Responsibilities:
Underwriting and other Business Revenue Accounting:
Responsible for monthly reconciliations of all revenues and related accounts receivable accounts, including underwriting, distribution and partnership revenue as applicable, including reconciliation with payments and payment processors.
Manage the month end revenue close including journal entries, account reconciliations related to revenue, deferred revenue and cost of revenues etc.
Responsible for effective monitoring and collections of outstanding receivables and related bad debt reserve calculation.
Review, analyze, and reconcile account balances and communicate with internal and external entities of varying levels to ensure that desired results are achieved.
Analyze current revenue policies, procedures and processes to reinforce strengths and improve efficiencies throughout multiple business areas and systems.
Lead initiatives to direct and improve revenue cycle system operations that favorably impact accounts receivables.
Work with the Business Development/Distribution departments in obtaining updated carrier related information and ensure timely quarterly billing distribution, revenue timing cut-off and related AR application and collection functions.
Obtain high level understanding of the WideOrbit trafficking system to ensure accurate revenue recognition from underwriting revenues.
Responsible for the accurate calculation and distribution of cost of sales expenditures to include, but not limited to, commissions, premium, software and credit card expenditures.
Development Revenue Accounting:
Responsible for monthly reconciliations of all revenues and related pledges receivable accounts, including membership, patrons, major donors and institutional and federal funding, including reconciliation with payments and payment processors.
Obtain a high level understanding of the Salesforce CRM system to ensure accurate revenue recognition from development revenue streams.
Obtain a high level understanding of grant policies and federal guidelines on grant tracking, spending and reporting.
Review and monitor grant documentation, including budgets, proposals, and other reporting to ensure compliance with foundation, federal / local / state guidelines and accounting practices.
Assist in the collection, consolidation, and maintenance of data necessary to meet reporting and evaluation requirements.
Other:
Support annual financial statement audits and A-133 audits when applicable, with responsibility for managing proper audit schedule preparation and backup.
Responsible for the revenue portion of all internal and external audits.
Assist with annual tax return filing 990/990T - including compiling and maintaining support files and analyses.
Prepare external financial statement consolidated reports for year-end and other quarterly disclosures.
Support the finance department in other areas including cross-functional training in accounts receivable, payables, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
BS Degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA and/or an advanced degree in business, accounting or related field
8+ years accounting and financial reporting experience.
CPA/CMA or other financial certification preferred.
Advanced level working knowledge of Excel and hands on experience with relational databases, CRM systems, such as Salesforce, and ability to analyze and reconcile large amounts of data.
Strong experience with accounting software, NYPR utilize GP Dynamics
Experience with WideOrbit or similar ad media management software preferred.
Strong understanding of US GAAP, especially as it relates to revenue recognition in both for and not-for-profit organizations.
Experience in revenue accounting and external and internal audits.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a reputation for building and maintaining relationships with people at all levels of an organization, across a diverse range of cultural, generational, ethnic, racial, educational and social background.
Self-directed with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and teams and work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines with the ability to manage several priorities at the same time, while maintaining a high level of effectiveness.
Excellent cross-functional and interdepartmental communicator.

Additional Information
This is a full-time role with an annual salary range of $110,000 to $120,000. Salary offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and organizational pay equity. New York Public Radio offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with vacation time, personal days, sick time and parental leave.
This individual is expected to work onsite at WNYC's New York City office at least 2 days a week.
