Summary
Employee is committed to achieving maximum effectiveness in serving our customers and working with fellow employees. Maintains a safe working environment, conducts pre-job safety meetings and weekly tailboard safety meetings. Practices and enforces good housekeeping on assigned equipment and at job sites. Under general supervision and based on crew makeup and work assignment, directs the work of others and performs skilled work on the journeyman level in the construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution electrical facilities owned and/or operated by the company. Assists in the training of future journeymen and crew personnel. May sometimes be transported to work locations by fixed wing, rotor, or other means of company transportation.

What You'll Do
Is responsible for personnel safety, instruction, and enforcement of safety rules and procedures. Ensures safe operation of equipment and conducts job site safety audits and tailboards.
Ensures proper handling and disposal of chemicals, hazardous waste, and PCB according to rules and regulations; must be familiar with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Is responsible for all work being performed in an efficient and cost effective manner; monitors and analyzes each phase of the work and process. Tests and approves work performed.
Reviews assigned jobs, location of jobs, manpower, makes accurate estimates of time, and determines material needs. Procures parts and material as required to complete job assignments.
Directs, instructs, and participates in all phases of work performed including but not limited to the:
Installation, operation and testing of motors, transformers and other related electrical equipment
Construction and maintenance work on electrical apparatus in transmission and distribution substations, project housing and buildings, electrical generation stations and other project facilities as required.
Installation and maintenance of the distribution underground system, including transformers, cables, ducts and other related equipment.
Additional Responsibilities
Directs all work involved in the winding and testing of armatures, and other duties pertaining to motor repair.
Directs the operation of trucks, hoists, and related equipment required to perform assigned tasks. Ensure submittal of discrepancy reports on faulty equipment.
Prepares time reports, material records, equipment time and mileage reports, and reports for each job as required; is responsible for the accurate up-grading of prints and completion of associated paper work.
Participates in the review and evaluation of subordinates for annual and special reviews.
Assists other employees doing related work during vacations, sick leaves or as workloads vary and are adjusted by supervisory personnel.
Must be available to work overtime and accept callouts.
Must communicate with various two-way radios, cell phones, and computers.
Must communicated with system operators at DOC and TGD for isolation and restoration of substation and/or electrical equipment as required and directed.
Other duties as assigned.
Employee must work safely and efficiently in the performance of their job duties. Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers and the public. Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and have the ability to accurately and legibly complete applicable paper work. May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime.
What It Takes To Succeed
Must view personnel safety as the number one priority - ability to perceive and analyze hazardous situations. Must communicate well with others, both oral and written. Ability to work from drawings and specifications and to effectively carry out oral or written instructions. Ability to analyze and resolve problems, make independent decisions and assume responsibilities for assigned jobs. Good physical condition, dependable, and willing to work long hours when required.
Experience
Successful completion of Electrician Apprenticeship or equivalent. Minimum three years' experience as a Substation Electrician (6 months at SRP) or equivalent experience.
Education
Completion of an appropriate Apprenticeship program or equivalent.
Testing and Certifications
Must pass SRP Clearance Procedures Test
Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit test and training required.

Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver's license.
