Software Engineer, Android Systems

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience with software development in C++.

2 years of experience with android system software development.

Experience working on Linux operating system

Preferred qualifications:

Experience developing and designing large software systems.

Experience with System Software in any of the following areas - ARM/ARM64 architecture, compilers, firmware, Operating systems, Linux kernel, filesystems/storage, device drivers, performance tuning, networking, tools, tests, virtualization, platform libraries, etc.

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

In this role, you will work on a variety of open source projects including the Linux kernel, Android operating system, and build the future of Android together with our large partner ecosystem. Daily aspects of the role will touch on areas such as memory, IPC, low-level performance, and systems software. You will be contributing to Android's updatability, security and quality while working alongside leading domain experts from various areas.

As a team working on systems software, we work on the foundations of the Android operating system and collaborate with numerous Android teams in Google across the globe. Areas of development may include the Linux kernel, operating systems, virtualization, security, inter-process communication, performance optimizations, app compatibility, and the Android core framework.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Design, develop, improve and roll out Android Systems for billions of users, applications and developers.

Work on core system components including memory, IPC and virtualization.

Scale development across a growing number of verticals (Wear, Auto, TV, large screen, etc).

Create and maintain a reliable, secure and robust foundation for the Android software ecosystem.

Work with our Android partners that ship Android devices.
