The Surveillance Manufacturing Engineering directorate is seeking a Department Manager to lead a multi-disciplined engineering team in support of factory execution. The Department Manager is considered a strategic partner to the North Texas Senior Director and the Advanced Products Center Factory Managers. They will be expected to champion collaboration across functions, driving execution as well as setting goals, improvement targets, and strategies for the Manufacturing Engineering team to support and positively impact factory and program performance.? This position will develop top technical talent and apply engineering practices across the manufacturing life cycle delivering world-class solutions to our internal and external customers.
This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas. Some domestic travel will be required.
What You Will Do
People leader of 140+ Manufacturing engineers, including a department staff of 9+ composed of Section Managers / Technical Leads located in McKinney, TX.
Partner across the Manufacturing Engineering organization and the Factory leadership team to develop strategic initiatives, improvement targets and key performance indicators to support business goals and execution
Build a section level leadership team accountable for manufacturing readiness, factory execution, technical problem solving, and continuous improvement
Plan, staff, and secure funding to adequately support factory and program requirements
Lead strategic initiatives and collaborate with other functions to achieve company goals and improvement targets
Responsible for managing the department leadership team and technical staff, managing department indirect budgets and leading performance management activities, goal setting, career counseling, compensation planning, and employee training.
Develop and maintain a pipeline of engineering talent with the required competencies
Be a key component of driving factory wide cultural change to keep up with the changing landscape of the defense industry
Lead by example and creates a culture of trust, respect, accountability, collaboration and innovation
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelor's in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years' experience.
Prior leadership experience in operations, engineering, manufacturing, program management or similar for a complex product domain, high-technology or large corporate environment.
Three (3) years or more of recent management experience leading a moderate size organization consisting of engineering, manufacturing and/or technical personnel
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, asonly U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
Leadership roles with direct reports and talent development experience in a technical environment
A great team builder with the ability to communicate clear expectations and influence teams
Experience with microelectronics manufacturing technology such as wirebond, solder, coating, automated optical inspection, pick and place etc.
CORE Professional Certification or above and/or experience with lean manufacturing, complex problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies
Proven technical acumen in the manufacture, test and integration of complex product technologies and systems
Cross-functional experience working across Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Factory and Program Operations
Experience in management processes and tools; EACs, Project?Management, Risk & Opportunity Management, and Staffing
Experience in financial planning, analysis, and cost account management
Excellent organizational, customer service, communication, presentation, and team building skills, and the ability to present to senior leadership.

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
