BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:
The H GK KEAHOLE, MAINTENANCE Department of the H GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt)
JOB FUNCTION:
Performs predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on all pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic instrumentation and control systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A Control Mechanic at the maximum level, performs the following duties (at lower levels, performs the following duties under direction or direct supervision in accordance with the various stages of training):
Works from drawings, written or verbal instructions: Installs, maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots component parts of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, or electronic control systems for steam, hydro, diesel, or combustion turbine generation units.
Installs any assigned instrumentation and control piping, tubing, and fittings.
Fabricates panels and brackets required in pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, or electronic instrumentation and controls equipment installations.
Assists in the installation and maintenance of new or upgraded control system software and hardware in consultation with supervisory personnel.
Uses portable or handheld electrical and electronic test equipment (digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, chart recorder, computer data acquisition, etc.) to troubleshoot system problems.
Uses pneumatic or small hand tools in the repair of control end devices (valves, solenoids, positioners, etc.)
Follows rules and work practices, and takes responsibility for personal safety and safety of others.
Collaborates with and supports others trades and departments.
Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
Other Responsibilities:
Performs similar and incidental duties as directed.
May operate a company vehicle as required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) and the Technician Occupation Selection System (TECH) for Control Mechanic progression system.
Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the MASS.
Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues required.
Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
Must be a graduate of applicable Apprentice Program or equivalent training and experience.
Must be able to pass minimum requirements for respirator use.
T58:Must pass the Company Written Job Knowledge Test (Journey level, 1st Year).
