Are you a seasoned accounting professional looking to take charge in a leadership role? Our client in the construction industry, located in Vista, CA, is seeking an Accounting Manager who thrives in a hands-on accounting environment and is eager to drive financial oversight in alignment with company objectives. This role is essential to ensuring accurate financial reporting, fostering strong vendor relationships, and leading a small team in a collaborative and growing construction environment.

What You'll Be Doing:

As an Accounting Manager, you'll be at the forefront of managing the company's financial data, guiding financial decision-making processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and policies. Your ability to oversee accounting operations, handle cost projections, and collaborate across departments will be integral to the success of the company's projects. Key responsibilities include:

Leading the month-end and year-end close process, preparing financial statements, and presenting findings to senior management.

Overseeing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, ensuring timely vendor payments and customer invoicing.

Partnering with project managers and internal teams to track construction project budgets and profitability.

Developing forecasts, cash flow analysis, and recommending cost-saving initiatives for ongoing and future projects.

Collaborating with external auditors and tax consultants annually to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Training and mentoring a small accounting team to improve efficiency and ensure accuracy across all financial functions.

Requirements

We're seeking candidates with a strong foundation in accounting and leadership experience, particularly in construction or project-based industries. Ideal qualifications include:

7+ years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA preferred but not mandatory.

Experience working within the construction industry or a similar environment that involves project costing.

Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in construction-specific accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Timberline).

An analytical, detail-oriented approach with strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
