Under the general supervision of the User Services Supervisor, the Evening User Services Assistant
will support all operations of the Circulation, Reserves, and Media Commons public service desks. This role includes overseeing circulation desk activities during evenings and weekends, assisting in the training of student assistants, and coordinating the physical upkeep of library collections. The Assistant will also prepare course reserve materials, provide support for various departmental functions, and assist library users with basic reference, informational, and technology-related inquiries. When classes are in session, this position is an evening position with late night hours 4pm - 12am. Daytime hours required when classes are not in session.
Essential Functions:
Administer and participate in library operations during evening and weekend hours, including oversight of campus library branches.
Provide oversight and support for student employees working at other campus libraries during evening and weekend hours.
Manage processing of materials for Course Reserves.
Participate in and execute periodic stacks maintenance projects in the main library.
Participate in resource sharing activities, including CBB , MaineCat and Bowdoin Library
Take-Out.
Hourly range for this position is expected to be $19.10 - 19.50/ per hour based on experience.
(This position is eligible for shift/weekend differential). Compensation based on your skills and experience. This position is considered to be essential.

Education/Skills Requirements
Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a highly cooperative team environment
Ability to balance multiple demands at an often busy public service point.
Proven technical skills and use of a broad range of software applications.
Strong customer service orientation and ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Preferred:
College degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Required:
A minimum of one year of library, customer service, or related experience.
Demonstrated supervisory/training experience (to assist with students)
Preferred:
Experience working at a library circulation desk and with an automated circulation system
Experience with stacks maintenance and access
Experience with providing general research assistance

Standard Work Days and Hours
This position is 36 hours/week, academic year round working 38 weeks (0.66 FTE ).
Evening shift is 4:00pm to 12:00am
Day hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm when the college is not in session.
This position is considered to be essential and may need to work during weather emergencies when class is in session.
