With a strong focus on lean manufacturing, supply chain expertise and new product development we are driving our company and its niche products further and further into the world class truck and commercial vehicle markets. You will use your energetic and enthusiastic experience to help build the supply base and processes to match these growing requirements.
Smart Growth:
We are continually working to guide high profile Tier 1 projects for companies such as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Daimler, Winnebago and Jayco and Kenworth through our engineering pipeline. You will be part of our teambuilding as we add additional talent to our supply chain team.
Your Strategic Sourcing Role:
Champion support for the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, including Asian onshoring and alternative sourcing, shortening supply chains and consolidating suppliers.
Support our award-winning Reynosa Mexico assembly plant on technical, material, and quality issues related to our suppliers.
Own the responsibility for our customer tooling portal management.
Help us stay in front of the curve by proactively monitoring supply constraints and impacts and escalate with strategic recommendations. High touch contact with your supply base is key.
Manage and grow material cost save and VAVE opportunities to create a balanced pipeline, and follow up with execution of RFQ's etc.
Enjoy leading supply chain responsibilities for cross functional projects from start to finish.
Your Lean Supply Chain Role:
Working with internal teammates, share your lean manufacturing and supplier sourcing knowhow to improve Velvac's supply chain IQ.
Engage team members on lean supply chain system ideas such as Demand Collaboration and Planning, Supermarkets, Kanban/Pull, PFEP (Plan for Every Part), Waste Reduction including VAVE, Heijunka Production Leveling, and Continuous Flow and Continuous Improvement. (Or have a strong desire to learn these along the way).
Show a knack for evaluating supply chain issues via Pareto and root causes analysis to identify systemic and sustainable solutions.
Your New Product Development Role:
Join the efforts to carry supply chain work for new product development (NPD) and strategic sourcing. (Address legacy/current components needs as they arise.)
Drive new product development (NPD) projects by leading supplier selection RFQ's, cost negotiation and supplier capability assessments.
Show active and visible support for new product development (NPD) projects by attending internal and external technical reviews and program meetings.
Navigate new program wins that require orderly supplier transfer and follow up optimization.
Launch tooling PO's as required while supporting the development and subsequent tooling implementation for manufacturing readiness. Work hand-in-hand with suppliers and engineering.
Responsible for tooling database maintenance for both Velvac and customer owned assets.
Process ECN's that are assigned and setup new part numbers in ERP system.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience, education and attitude with a track record of sourcing success that you can be proud of. Show a bias for action and a proactive the work style to match. Prosper in our multi-location, multi-departmental environment with strong communication, organization and execution skills.
A Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field. CPM certification is a plus.
A well-rounded seven to ten years of experience in all the various materials control functions.
Expertise in Tooling and die casted parts is a plus.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Experience in program management, vendor management, information systems, business processes, internal controls, procedures, and improvement initiatives.
High-powered analytical skills and the ability to understand complex concepts and situations.
Show a basic working knowledge on reading 2 dimensional technical drawings.
Bring your knowledge of (or willingness to learn) technical processes related to die casting aluminum, injection molding plastics, metal stampings and metal fabrication.
Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
