Overview
The Director, Marketing PMO & Operations Transformation helps REI succeed by leading key marketing operations changes. It improves processes, technology use, and teamwork to make campaigns more effective and efficient. This role gives strategic leadership and direction to a team of Project Managers. The team plans and manages complex omni-channel campaigns in the GTM portfolio, from early strategy to creative execution.
To be successful, this role needs exceptional interpersonal, diplomatic, and visionary leadership skills. The person must build relationships and influence all levels of the organization, from individual contributors to senior executives. They are directly accountable for providing regular updates on the GTM project portfolio and partner with senior managers across divisions to escalate, resolve, and remove barriers for the team.
The ideal candidate has proven transformation leadership experience and exceptional operational and technical skills. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are also required. The person in this role will manage and support teams in refining daily operations. They will also manage complex process improvement and change management initiatives. The candidate will use various methods, practices, and tools to resolve barriers and drive business, operational, and resource efficiencies.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Leading the Way:
Define the PMO future state vision, leadership and focus for marketing operations to inform career development & L&D
Partner with senior business and leadership teams to assess and scope key transformation workstreams. Drive efficiency, cost optimization, and strategic growth opportunities.
Establishes PMO presence and visibility within the department via socialization of transformation efforts and best practices
Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods, and practices to promote REI key messages.
Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results while ensuring employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to employees (directly & indirectly managed) to achieve department, company, and customer results.
Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action.
Models excellent oral and written communication, with great interpersonal skills.

Marketing Operations & Process Transformation
Comprehensive Change Management: Examine and improve processes, such as workflows and methodologies. Improve strategies by aligning marketing initiatives with business goals. Optimize organizational structures, including team structures and capabilities.
Design and ensure leadership support for comprehensive transformation strategies for the marketing team. Align these strategies with the organizational vision.
Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities for process optimization and organizational evolution through cross-divisional stakeholder feedback and data analysis.
Adept at understanding and driving a system level view across Marketing and key divisions
Adaptability: Continually assesses and refines the operating model and processes to create repeatability and enhance scalability.
Quickly develop and maintain a deep understanding of our campaign delivery systems. This supports effective problem-solving, prioritization, and fast project execution.
Collaborative problem solver: Collaborates with Marketing Operations peers on system, tool, and technology dependencies. Supports projects within the Go to Market system.
PMO Leadership
Strategic thinking: Sets the vision and guides a team of project managers. Guides operationally minded managers to think strategically and manage programs effectively.
Enhance governance, accountability, and execution oversight. Establish clear ownership and accountability for initiatives. Ensure alignment with operational and financial goals.
Drive decision making using deep experience with operating governance models. Use insights and data to guide recommendations. Enable business agility and support efficient work methods.
Strategic Planning Expertise: Demonstrates extensive experience in upstream strategy development and planning. Shows proven ability to manage complex, high-visibility initiatives from concept through implementation. Ensures alignment with business goals and organizational priorities.
Establishes and builds executive-level relationships with Marketing leadership during early planning. Drives cross-functional alignment to meet key milestones and timelines. Ensures brief development and project kickoffs are well managed across the organization.
Operating Models: Deep understanding of all project management methodologies. Ability to think strategically about their best use for efficiency and business goals.
System mindset: Supports forward-looking views to help the organization focus on efficiency (automation) and effectiveness (scale). This ensures PMO capability and readiness.
Leadership voice: Serves as a guide for the team and broader stakeholders. Ensures long-term strategies connect to near-term execution plans.
Resource planning: Work with the Marketing Ops planning team and department managers. Maintain balance between priorities, operational design, efficiency, headcount planning, modeling, and hiring.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience working in a fast-paced, highly matrixed Marketing Strategy, Integrated Marketing, and Marketing Operations PMO.
Over 10 years' experience managing a team skilled in various process models, from traditional Waterfall to Agile.
10+ years' experience designing, developing, and deploying data-driven operating models that enable business agility with strategic impact.
Deep understanding of software development processes and engagement methodologies.
Deep understanding of Marketing technology, tools, ecosystem, and data structures (taxonomy).
Experience in upstream strategic planning, managing complex initiatives from brief development through implementation with demonstrated business alignment.
Exceptional business acumen, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience implementing transformational initiatives in a retail or consumer environment.
Experience developing strategic initiatives that drive financial and operational impact.
Experience working with teams to influence and drive enterprise-wide programs.

Pay Range
$140,300.00 - $238,600.00 per year
