About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Counsel in the Markets Section of the Legal Department to support the commodities trading business.

This position is responsible for providing legal services advice and counsel to the commodities trading business of Wells Fargo Bank and its affiliates, including Wells Fargo Commodities, LLC.
In this role, you will:
Lead or participate in provision of regulatory, structuring, documentation and transactional support related to physical and financial commodities products
Provide legal advice and counsel to the commodities business, including sales, trading, credit, compliance, and operations functions
Review and analyze moderately complex challenges for the commodities business that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
Manage highly complex matters of legal significance to the commodities business and develop and render opinions, consult with, and advise clients on legal and regulatory matters
Provide guidance to the commodities business on legal matters to assist with legal risk assessment, planning and policy decisions, claims against the Company, probability of loss, and develop cost-effective risk mitigation strategies
Draft complex legal documents, review and negotiate documents prepared by outside counsel
Independently resolve moderately complex legal issues and lead team to meet deliverables
Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolution
Develop the overall legal coverage strategy and philosophy of support for the commodities business
Educate, train, and supervise less experienced attorneys within the Legal department
Collaborate with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Lead projects, teams, or serve as a mentor for less experienced staff
Work directly with commodities business clients and develop an in depth understanding of commodities business activities and products
Partner with business leaders and management of other corporate departments to develop and implement risk management programs
Required Qualifications:
4+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States
Desired Qualifications:
3+ years of significant experience in representing clients with respect to commodities and derivatives transactions, including experience with physically settled crude oil and refined products, natural gas, metals and commodity linked financing structures.
Significant knowledge and experience with U.S. laws, rules and regulations relevant to commodities and derivatives transactions, including product and banking laws (the Dodd-Frank Act, the Bank Holding Company Act, the Gramm Leach Bliley Financial Modernization Act, and Sections 23A and B of the Federal Reserve Act, Natural Gas Act, NGPA, etc.); bankruptcy laws (including netting laws); laws relating to secured transactions and creditors' rights.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership
Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$120,400.00 - $287,600.00
