Summary Employee will serve as a Medical Equipment Worker located within Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service at the Veterans Healthcare System in Palo Alto, CA. Responsibilities Duties will include but may not be limited to the following: Repairs, maintains, overhauls, and modifies the full range of electrically and mechanically operated durable medical equipment, such as powe3r wheelchairs, scooters, electric hospital beds, rollators, wheelchair/van lifts and other non-mechanical devices such as walkers. Determines equipment deficiencies, adjustments needed and the parts necessary to place i8tem in proper operating condition by operational tests, visual examination, and using a variety of measuring devices or electrical test equipment. Disassembles equipment and replaces wiring, electrical elements, switches, electric motors by soldering connections, replaces bearings, etc.; replaces framework, timers, regulators, gaskets, and similar controls. Reassembles equipment, performs applicable tests, makes needed adjustments and modifications to assure performance standards are met. Performs clerical/technical level work to procure supplies and services, maintains stock levels of repair parts, prosthetic devices, etc. Handles consults for prosthetic devises assuring patient eligibility and entitlement are met. Performs other duties as necessary.
