Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
OVERVIEW
The Vice President, News Programming Finance, will be responsible for leading the finance support for the Programming and Newsgathering teams of MSNBC and CNBC. Managing a team of three motivated professionals, this leader will partner with senior leaders of CNBC and MSNBC to execute on day to day priorities as well as key initiatives. This role will report to the Senior Vice President, News Finance and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the team responsible for planning and communicating the financial implications of programming-related decisions (e.g. schedule changes, staffing changes, alternate commercial formats)
Create financial processes and operational reporting for the MSNBC Newsgathering operation - a unique opportunity to participate in a large strategic build and demonstrate flexibility, generate new ideas, and provide analytical insights
Work closely with editorial teams for special programming and the coverage of the political calendar leading up to the 2028 general election
Play critical role in preparing/managing annual budgets, long-range strategic plans, financial estimates and managing P&L and cash forecasts. Expected to have a thorough understanding of financial operations to drive strategic initiatives, cost savings and other priorities
Develop strong relationships with brands leaders, show teams and HR
Manage a high-functioning team of 3 staff
Other ad hoc projects and requests as assigned by the SVP
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of experience in progressive Operational Finance or Financial Planning and Analysis roles

Demonstrated leadership skills with experience leading a team of finance professionals
Solid financial modeling skills
Solid communication skills with the ability to synthesize data and complex information, and present succinctly to executives and stakeholders at all levels
Ability to adapt and work well in a fast-paced, results-oriented and rapidly changing environment.
Able to build strong working partnerships along with the ability to listen, understand, and influence across various levels within the organization.
Possesses the confidence and presence to interact and present at senior management and executive levels.
Analytical mindset, curiosity, and initiative; expertise in leveraging and analyzing financial data to drive strategic decision making
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
