Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented (Contract) Accounting Clerk (AR/AP) to support our finance team at a Hotel in Palo Alto, CA. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and general accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of day-to-day operations. This position is ideal for a self-starter with exceptional Excel skills who is eager to learn proprietary software in a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Invoice Processing: Accurately match, batch, code and process invoices while ensuring compliance with company policies.

Cash Deposits: Handle cash and check deposits accurately and document transactions in a timely manner, with accuracy and confidentiality.

Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable (AR/AP): Maintain accurate AR/AP records, track outstanding payments, and reconcile as needed.

Billing: Prepare and issue invoices to customers promptly and ensure follow-ups for payments.

Filing: Organize and maintain financial and accounting documents, ensuring proper archiving for easy retrieval.

Ad hoc tasks: Be open to supporting the company on any ad hoc projects related to this position

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

At least 2 years of hands-on professional experience in accounting or billing.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions like V-lookups and Pivot Tables

Willingness to learn and navigate proprietary accounting software tools.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and proactively resolve issues.

A self-starter who is dependable and motivated to deliver high-quality work on time.

Commitment to confidentiality and handling sensitive financial data responsibly.

Enthusiasm to help out with Ad-hoc tasks and projects

Preferred Skills:

Prior experience in the hospitality or hotel industry is a plus but not required
