As the Global Strategic Market Manager, you will develop an over-arching global strategy and driving subsequent execution for substrate protection systems (SPS) that is aligned with the regional SPS strategies across all global regions (Americas, EMEA, APAC) for the Automotive OEM and Industrial Coatings business units. These responsibilities are categorized into market management, product management, and performance management and cross-functional strategy. You will have a hybrid work schedule and will report to the Global Market Director.
Main Responsibilities:
Market Management:
Global oversight of sales pipeline sufficiency and quality (by region and technology) to ensure growth goals are realistic and achievable; this includes taking action to close any necessary gaps in either quality or sufficiency to achieve long-term growth goals
Organize and execute both periodic and ongoing global voice-of-customer (VOC) efforts
Solicit forward-looking trends and forecasts from partners (regulatory, procurement, manufacturing) to understand both product and market risks and opportunities
Establish educated and quantifiable positions on an ongoing basis related to external market and internal feedback (disruptive market trends, cross-functional goals and objectives, etc.)
Combine external and internal feedback into cohesive, quantifiable, and applicable global product roadmap that takes into consideration regional market similarities and differences that arrive at winning value propositions at all levels
Product Management:
Translate global product roadmap into NPI projects and manage global projects on an end-to-end basis through the NPI process, including gatekeeper reviews, business case construction, and post-launch success tracking
Maintain global product roadmaps, PPO definition, and pricing guidelines on a quarterly basis based on ongoing feedback from the market and internal partners
Global product lifecycle management, including determining what, where, how, why and when legacy products should be sunset to guarantee a winning portfolio is maintained while minimizing the cost, complexity, and CAPEX requirements of the global technology layer
Together with regional market managers (RMMs), lead the forecasting and execution of regional customer plant-level product launches to ensure joint accountability (RMM and GMM) for global NPI and product lifecycle management efforts
Identify, measure, and action global formula-cost reduction opportunities
Coordinate and execute global technology training programs for employees (and technologies) to help equip commercial teams on what, where, and how to sell value proposition
Organize and help create global marketing collateral (customer presentations, press releases, industry / conference presentations) to demonstrate clear winning value proposition
Performance Management and Cross-Functional Strategy:
Contribute to annual profit planning and Business Strategy Review (BSR) presentations, including input to periodic Global Leadership Team strategy execution meetings
Track actual performance on share gain and churn vs. both profit plan and BSR planning cycles
Partner with teams, namely commercial, technical and field service, to identify and close gaps related to product or service deficiencies that are adversely impacted growth goals
Support and collaborate with partners on all strategic exercises, including business technology plan (BTP), strategic global account plans, competitive intelligence and benchmarking, competitive battle plans, macro-economic 'what-if' analyses etc.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a STEM discipline
8+ years experience in strategic marketing, product management, strategy, business development, or technical role
Track-record of delivering results and driving execution
Ability for global travel up to 30 percent
Excellent communication skills including the ability to influence both internal stakeholders and external customers, including executive-level stakeholders
Strong analytical skills, ability to translate data into actionable insights
Project management skills (formal or informal); ability to set direction and hold others accountable to deliver on results and commitments
Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel
