Job Summary
Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical tasks related to the
processing of cases brought before the district court
Position Functions
Clerks the Court by preparing docket of cases to be called in court
that day; provides Judge with case files for that day\'s court,
ensuring cases are in order and up to date. Administers a variety of
oaths; @types or takes handwritten minutes of proceedings; operates
and monitors electronic recording equipment during proceedings;
maintains and organizes exhibits.
Receives for filing and processing, a variety of legal documents,
many of a confidential and time sensitive nature. Data entry into
the statewide computer system is required for every @type of case
filed with the court and includes traffic and general misdemeanor
citations filed by different law enforcement agencies, criminal
complaints filed by the prosecuting attorney; civil lawsuits; and
special proceedings matters. Depending on the nature of the
pleading, required follow-up procedures performed - entry of
attorneys or parties to an a action; scheduling hearings; preparing
documents for the Judge\'s attention; setting a matter for hearing
or trial; bringing a matter to the Judge\'s attention that requires
further direction. Entry of court dispositions or judgments in all
cases is also entered into the system.
Responsible for the collection of moneys paid in regard to filing
fees set by statute or monies ordered by the Court such as fines and
costs, restitution, and probation fees. Documentation and monitoring
of some of these fees is required.
Prepares paperwork at the Judge\'s discretion. Conforms and
distributes copies of judgments, orders and decrees to attorneys,
parties, law enforcement, and other local and state agencies
involved in a case.
Communicates and assists the public regarding summoned court
appearances, questions regarding orders of the Court, modifications
or extension requests regarding order of the court, as well as any
other matter relating to the Clerk\'s Office.
Communicate with Judges & attorneys\' offices to obtain necessary
information pertaining to the Clerk\'s Office.
Communicates with prosecuting attorneys and public defenders or
their offices regarding cases their office is handling, providing
them with necessary information pertaining to ongoing cases.
Communicates with local & state agencies that are initiating,
monitoring or affected by a variety of cases.
Public and non-public records custodian. Assists in the furnishing
of public information requested while maintaining a high degree of
confidentiality in regard to matters not open to the public.
Performs any & all required procedures or assigned duties at the
direction of the district/magistrate judge.
Other duties may include:
A. Processes appeals filed with the District Court and Supreme Court
and monitors time constraints pursuant to appellate rules. This may
include preparing notices and/or orders in a timely fashion, typing
transcripts of court hearings or trials, preparing a Clerk\'s Record,
and furnishing the same, along with exhibits, to attorneys, the District
Court or the Idaho Supreme Court.
B. Responsible for typing transcripts of court proceedings as
required in appeals or upon request by interested parties to the action.
C. Runs a variety of weekly and monthly reports that aid in the
process of court records; disposition of monies tendered; judges\'
caseloads; probation departments for the Magistrate and District Court
proceedings; local agencies; and state agencies such as the Idaho
Transportation Department, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the
Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
D. All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education /Qualifications Required
High school diploma or equivalent and two years or more of secretarial
and general office training, four years experience in general clerical
and secretarial work, preferably with two years\' legal clerical or
secretarial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. Broad knowledge involving advanced secretarial science.
Typical work hours
Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. overtime as needed
