JOB REQUIREMENTS: Description Assist in the day-to-day operations of the
Bayfield County Forestry and Parks Department. This is a full-time
position scheduled 40 hours per week. Examples of Duties Assist in the
maintenance of the Forestry and Parks Department\'s access management
plan, including, but not limited to: road and trail inventory,
monitoring, improvement, construction and maintenance, including
grading; installation, removal and maintenance of all stream/water
crossings; gate and other road closure installation, removal, repair and
maintenance; bridge installation, removal, repair and maintenance; and
seeding/mulching. Assist in the management of the reforestation program,
including, but not limited to, all site preparation activities,
including planting, seeding and barrens management (i.e. roller
chopping); seedling counts, both natural and artificial; and timber
stand improvement activities. Mow and/or brush or assist in the
coordination of mowing and/or brushing, all wildlife openings, trails,
parking areas and road rights of way. Perform routine maintenance and
minor repairs of all Forestry and Parks Department owned heavy
machinery, recreational vehicles, power equipment and associated
implements. Maintain the Forestry and Parks Department shop and
surrounding grounds, including cleaning and performing minor repairs.
Maintain and organize all tools and equipment. Assist in the treatment
of invasive species on Bayfield County owned or managed lands, including
the use of herbicides. Assist in the identification, felling and removal
of hazard trees on Bayfield County owned or managed lands, including
campgrounds, parks, trails, yurts and similar rec properties. Assist in
the management of the recreation program through a variety of
maintenance and repair tasks at all Bayfield County owned or managed
park, trail (both motorized and non-motorized), campground, lake access
or similar properties, including, but not limited to: Site inspection,
improvement, maintenance and construction. Road, trail and parking area
repair, improvement, maintenance and construction. Mowing and brushing.
Building/facilities maintenance and minor repair. Installation, removal
and minor repair of boat ramps, docks, swim rafts and similar items.
Inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of play areas, ramps
and boardwalks. Garbage/trash removal, including emptying waste bins.
Sign/kiosk construction, installation, removal, maintenance and repair.
Data collection and download (i.e. trail counters). General custodial
duties (i.e. cleaning). Assist in the management of the county yurts or
similar rustic camping structures, including, but not limited to,
cleaning, maintenance and minor repairs of all structures and
outbuildings, including decks, woodsheds, and outhouses; road and
parking area maintenance and repair, including grading, mowing, and
brushing; procuring and stacking firewood; garbage/trash removal; and
sign and kiosk installation, repair and maintenance. Building and/or
repairing picnic tables, benches, kiosks, sign posts and frames, or
similar structures, as well as re-decking or minor repairs to docks,
swim rafts or similar items. Assist in the removal of garbage, trash and
similar debris, deer stands or other unauthorized structures, or similar
items that have been illegally dumped on Bayfield County owned or
managed properties, including parks, campgrounds, yurts, county forest
lands and similar properties. Assist in nuisance wildlife management,
including beaver, on all Bayfield County owned or managed properties.
Assist in prescribed burns and fire suppression. Assist in timber
marking, timber sale establishment, and timber sale administration,
including scaling. Assist in the location and marking of property
boundaries. Assist in project development and contract administration.
Assist in the preparation of specifications for equipment purchases,
road/trail repair or new construction projects and building maintenance,
repair or construction. Work with State, Federal, Tribal and other
agencies to achieve maximum program objectives. Maintain accurate
records and accomplishments. Other duties and tasks as assigned.
** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree in
natural resource management preferred. Equivalent combination of
education and/or work experience that provides the knowledge, skills and
abilities required to successfully perform duties required of the
position will be considered. 2 years of experience with heavy equipment
operation, maintenance and repair. Valid Commercial Driver\'s License
(Class B). Must obtain Class A within one year of employment. Preference
will be given to applicants with a valid Class A. Physical Demands:
Ability to perform extended periods of physical labor including, but not
limited to, walking, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, and
standing. Heavy to moderate lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Ability
to work in various weather conditions including sun, wind, rain and
snow, including exposure to insects. Distance vision and depth
