About the division

The responsibilities of the Civil Division include: rendering legal opinions to each of the Prosecutor's statutory clients upon request; advising each as to their legal rights and responsibilities; negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts; drafting any other necessary legal documents; and initiating and defending civil actions and appeals on behalf of their clients in both the state and federal courts.

About the role

The Richland County Prosecutor's Civil Division is seeking a detail-oriented self-starter to join our team. The successful candidate will primarily assist with collection of delinquent taxes and assessments, bankruptcy cases, assist the office with its own as well as client public records requests, and manage the office's records retention schedule. This position is an excellent opportunity for a new legal professional looking to contribute to important public legal matters.

This full-time position is based in Mansfield, Ohio, and requires in-office work. The office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 mm. Position reports to the Civil Division Chief.

Key Responsibilities:

Delinquent Tax Assessment Collection (DTAC):

Assist in preparing and filing documents related to delinquent tax foreclosure cases, Manage case files, track deadlines, and support attorneys in all stages of the foreclosure process.

Bankruptcy Filings:

Assist in preparing and filing proof of claim paperwork in Federal Court, when necessary, in connection with tax foreclosure cases. Assist in tracking and cross-referencing bankruptcy filings and open foreclosure cases.

Public Records Requests:*

Manage and respond to public records requests in accordance with Ohio law. Ensure proper documentation and compliance with legal requirements for the release of public records.

Legal Research & Documentation:

Conduct legal research to support ongoing cases and office operations. Assist in preparing legal
