As an Application Engineer on an enterprise Zero Trust Program for a DoD client, your responsibilities will include:
Designing and implementing technical solutions to meet customer requirements, potentially including custom software development or integration.
Troubleshooting issues, providing technical support, and ensuring the stability and performance of deployed applications.
Creating clear and concise documentation for applications, including user guides, technical specifications, and training materials.
Working effectively with other team members, including operations and engineering teams, to ensure successful project outcomes.
Identifying areas for improvement in existing applications and processes and recommending solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Mentoring less experienced engineers and sharing their knowledge and expertise.
Staying up to date on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
2-5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in application deployment, configuration, and maintenance
Understanding and interest in troubleshooting distributed systems
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical personnel
Ability to work well in an environment where priorities shift depending on the needs of the mission
Ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships
Proven time management skills and self-supervision
A strong bias for automation
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Experience with applications running on Windows, Linux, and in containerized environments
Experience with on-prem and cloud deployment
Knowledge of one or more containerization platforms (Kubernetes, Docker, Tanzu, OpenShift,etc)
Familiarity with one or more programming languages (Python, Java, etc)
Experience with securing systems to DoD STIG requirements
Knowledge of software acceptance testing process
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
Experience with one or more automation systems (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc)
Knowledge of Zero Trust capabilities and the software that provides them, such as identity management, identity providers, multifactor authentication, privileged access management, unified entity management, inventory control systems, endpoint protection, SIEM/SOAR, software defined compute/networking/storage, etc.
Knowledge of the DoD ATO process
Familiarity with DoD Zero Trust Architecture model
Current Secret clearance
Bachelor's degree in field like Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Management Systems, or other related field

The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
