Project Overview:
Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel's scope of service in Sentinel's current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.
A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary:
In this role, you will participate in the design, development, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. You will collaborate and support other engineering disciplines for electrical engineering matters. Your professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard electrical engineering techniques and criteria will enable you to make impactful contributions to the team.
This position is for an Electrical Engineer, located in Ogden, UT, who will prepare designs for Electrical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Sentinel program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. #LI-SNH
Major Responsibilities:
Level I
Participates in the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission and storage of electricity
Compiles, adjusts, and correlates data that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records
Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines
Provides direct support to other engineering disciplines for electrical related matters
Coordinates development and presentation of material when requested
Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals
Level II
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications
Participates in the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Provides technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
Primary engineering activities will be engineering design for the infrastructure and power system for the Sentinel Program. This work includes the use of Setroute, SpecsIntact and ETAP.
Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements, for applicability to electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions, and system descriptions related to design tasks.
Work with Electrical engineers, other technical disciplines, and Northup Grumman in a team environment.
Develop design drawings and other design documents. These documents include wiring diagrams, panel schedules and one-line diagrams
Perform system analysis such as load flow and short circuit analysis.
Prepare design and equipment specifications, using government United Facilities Guide Specification in SpecsIntact.
Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product
Education and Experience Requirements:
Level I
Requires University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
Must be a United States citizen.
Must be able to complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Level II
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
Must be a United States citizen.
Must be able to complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
US citizenship is required per contract requirement.
Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
Knowledge of electrical codes and standard (NFPA 70, ANSI/IEEE, NEMA, etc.).
Knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, layouts, and equipment specifications.
Knowledge of industry-wide electrical design tools such as AutoCad and ETAP.
Ability to execute work independently, with direction, using Bechtel and industry-proven concepts and procedures.
