JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Established in 2018, The Center of Excellence in Industrial Biotechnology (CoEIB) works across Penn State to provide educational experiences designed to prepare company representatives, undergraduate and graduate students to contribute to the dynamic field of biotechnology.

We are looking for a talented and energetic person to become a part-time member of The Center's team. This position provides the opportunity to craft the Center's branding, establish communication strategies, implement internal and external outreach programs and other Center activities. Working closely with the Center's Associate Director, use personal initiative to identify opportunities to expand or enhance the Center's impact.

Excellent writing and communication skills are a must, along with experience in website and social media management. A background in graphic design, photography, and/or video production is also a plus. What excites us about a candidate is: knowledge of integrated marketing communications and best practices and emerging trends; experience in editorial, digital and print marketing; and the ability to thrive in The Center with an immediate goal of accelerating and growing our campus presence.

Preferred skills: A background in biotechnology, fermentation, and / or mammalian cell culture is important. Excellent writing and communication skills are a must, along with experience that demonstrates the ability to select and manage the appropriate communication channels for each of the CoEIB's audiences Contribute to content for fact sheets, brochures, articles, newsletters, speaker remarks, and other internal or external communications Edit and proofread publications, including websites, advertisements, articles, brochures, feature stories, etc. Prepare creative briefs for concept development and creative expression; deliver presentations of creative work to clients Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, contractual obligations, confidentiality and privacy policies, and style and standard guidelines Works under minimum supervision on varied and sometimes difficult work assignments, conferring with supervisor or subject matter experts on unusual matters.
