Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk for our client located in Harahan, Louisiana. This short-term contract to full time position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and contribute to various accounting functions. The role involves handling accounts payable and receivable tasks, data entry, and supporting general accounting activities.

Responsibilities:

Process and match invoices to purchase orders and vouchers to ensure accurate payment records.

Manage accounts payable tasks, including vendor invoice processing, filing, and disbursements.

Assist in accounts receivable by generating invoices, applying cash receipts, and following up on overdue balances.

Perform general ledger account reconciliations and support month-end closing activities.

Verify and correct transaction documents, revising entries as needed and ensuring proper classification of expenditures and accounting codes.

Compile and prepare financial statements and reports using various data sources.

Enter financial data into journals, ledgers, and registers manually or electronically.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies by analyzing records and preparing necessary correction documents.

Monitor budgets and assist in making adjustments or transfers to maintain budgetary control.

Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.

Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; familiarity with other accounting software is a plus.

Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting principles.

Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies and ensure accounting accuracy.

Prior experience in billing, invoice processing, and account reconciliation is advantageous.

Entry-level candidates with a strong willingness to learn will also be considered.
