Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Lompoc, California. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to key financial operations and ensure seamless accounting practices during a staff leave period. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong experience in accounting systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accurate and timely transactions.

Perform bank reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger in accordance with accounting standards.

Utilize SAP and Tyler Technologies Munis systems for efficient tracking and reporting of financial data.

Oversee cash posting activities while maintaining precise records.

Collaborate on CalPERS reporting to ensure compliance with state requirements.

Support financial operations through detailed analysis and problem-solving.

Assist in training and transitioning duties during staff leave.

Maintain high standards of accuracy in all financial documentation and reporting. Requirements - Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or related financial roles.

Proficiency in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations and general ledger management.

Strong knowledge of accounting software such as SAP and Tyler Technologies Munis.

Ability to prepare journal entries and perform cash posting accurately.

Familiarity with CalPERS reporting requirements is highly preferred.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
