Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Oriskany, New York. This role is a Contract-to-permanent position, offering the opportunity to contribute to core accounting functions within the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing general ledger activities, reconciliations, and financial operations for multiple entities.

Responsibilities:

Oversee and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Manage financial operations for three smaller subsidiary companies, providing detailed reporting and analysis.

Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice management and payment tracking.

Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to company policies.

Assist with month-end close procedures, including account reconciliation and financial statement preparation.

Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP to streamline workflows and maintain records.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations and address accounting inquiries. Requirements - At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger and reconciliations.

Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Strong knowledge of accounting software, including NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP.

Experience with bank reconciliations and journal entry preparation.

Familiarity with month-end close procedures and financial reporting.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
