Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.Under the direction of a Manager of Information Technology Services 1 (Operations), SG-27, within the Chief Technology Office/Data Center Services, the Information Technology Specialist 4, SG-25, will manage a Unisys Production Control Team responsible for providing 24 X7 service to our customer agencies (OTDA, OCFS, DCS), in a Unisys 2200 series and open systems environment. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: - Ensure system availability and workflow for all scheduled customer activities.- Oversee the scheduling of batch work on the Unisys mainframe and open-systems servers, using enterprise automated batch scheduling system tool, OpCon- Ensure that staff monitor batch jobs for successful completion.- Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of the operations of the computer-based processing schedules for customer agencies. - Identify training needs for staff and trains staff on a continual basis.- Execute the established procedures for problem escalation.- Understand and participates in Change Management and Problem Management processes.- Notify appropriate parties regarding application or system problems, according to procedure. - Create daily reports, charts, statistics, and databases.- Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG25 OR in a position at the SG23 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.Note: If you are on the examination eligible list for the position title in this location, you do not need to respond to this posting unless you are also eligible for appointment by one of the qualifications listed above. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed.
Additional Comments Some positions may require fingerprinting. Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. Positions located in New York City, will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In May 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
