Our gourmet store located in Melville is seeking an Assistant Kitchen Manager for its busy store. This individual with assistance with the management of the kitchen staff and their duties and functions by:

Managing the pantry and inventory.

Controlling how food is stored and prepared.

Supervising how customers are serviced.

This individual will have hands on experience preparing gourmet dishes from scratch and has the ability to supervise and guide staff to deliver quality, timely food and ensure that all customers are satisfied.

Responsibilities

Will ensure that all food items are stored, prepared, served based on the kitchen's recipe, preparation and portion standards.

Working as part of a team with prepare dishes according to the Uncle Giuseppe's company and store recipes.

Working with the Kitchen manager assist with all hiring, training, scheduling and all other kitchen administrative tasks.

Working directly with the kitchen manager will order kitchen materials and ingredients based off the store menu and ingredients.

Supervise food preparation in the kitchen and ensure that customer's are satisfied.

Maintain a clean working environment and make sure employees follow the kitchen's safety rules and company policies.

Maintain adequate inventory levels and conduct daily and weekly inventories.

Work with various department managers to create menu items, pricing and to establish portion sized for each meal, holiday, special event and catering orders.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must have 5 years of progressive experience working in a restaurant or BOH environment.

Must have working knowledge of all food safety standards, proper handling, storage etc.

In depth experience preparing all @types of food dishes with a special emphasis on Italian cuisine.

Prior experience in teaching and mentoring kitchen employees.

Highly motivated and able to think quickly on the job.

Outstanding communication and supervisory skills.
