The Strategic Meetings Operations Manager will lead the end-to-end delivery of event planning and sourcing services for Strategic Meetings Customs while handling implementations/expansions and innovating process improvement, ensuring SLAs, important metrics and SOPs are crafted, updated and followed to improve service levels and minimize risk. Additionally, ensure outstanding quality and customer happiness are achieved through continuous improvement, innovation and thought leadership.
What You'll Do:
Build effective teams with complementary strengths and build environment that supports staff continuity and retention - plans as required
Identify gaps in servicing levels and build action plans to eliminate root issues in a timely manner
Ensure control and compliance to financial procedures - lead creation of and performance against forecast, ensure accurate staffing levels and optimum efficiency
Ensure payments in timely manner and any aging debts to assist with resolution
Provide ownership/direction on issue resolution and implement action
Identify strategies to drive future enhancements of the servicing model
Audit sourcing/planning files for accuracy, cost savings and client deliverables
Operations delivery against SLA and contractual obligations
Identifies new business opportunities
Supports client's program goals, strategies and expectations and ensures integration and alignment into their overall Travel, Card, and Meetings programme
Engaged in client's internal process, and projects to ensure maximum saturation of Amex GBT products and services
Supports client/internal regional business reviews, delivers opportunity and growth discussion
Contract management and accountability for full scope of program and delivery
Run projects focused on:Reengineering legacy processes to minimize expenses and increase efficiency, Operation optimization audits, Global collaboration to standardize processes, Internal and external audit oversight, Training and development
What We're Looking For
Minimum of seven years' experience in leadership of event or meetings management teams
Tenured people leadership with shown ability to inspire and empower both direct reports and cross-functional project teams while ensuring employee engagement
Deep knowledge of meetings industry
Gets results by challenging status quo, championing new initiatives, implementing effective methods and sophisticated negotiation skills
Experience leading and developing large, geographically dispersed teams
Knowledge of meeting sourcing and planning as required by account portfolio
Strong ability to interact and engage client contacts at a meeting level and key contact level
Must possess strong financial acumen including full P&L management and demonstrate the ability to collaborate both internally/externally ensuring critical linkages are established in order to achieve goals
Ability to drive revenue and contribute significantly to revenue targets
Program management system and meetings industry technology experience preferred
Confident product knowledge and experience of congress, transient travel, group air, large sophisticated events & incentives
Excellent oral and written communications skill and presentation abilities that ensure critical messages can be delivered succinctly for complete agreement from a variety of audiences
Outstanding negotiation and presentation skills
Prior successful experience in developing and maintaining key client and supplier relationships
University degree preferred, MBA a plus
Flexibility to travel onsite when needed.
Must be able to work east coast hours to align with customers

The US national annual base salary range for this position is from $70,000 to $140,000. The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
