Everyone wants fresh, tasty, and healthy food and effective and available medicines. Frequently these goods are harvested or created far away from where they are consumed, across the country or even across the world. Keeping them safe, environmentally controlled, and secure while transporting them throughout their journey is a complicated and complex problem, involving a tremendous amount of computing power, sensors, radios, mobile devices, IoT, cloud, and more.
At Copeland, we call this transportation system our Cold Chain, stretching across the entire lifecycle of food and medicines. It starts when food is harvested or vaccines manufactured and goes through the shipping of goods worldwide, all the way to your local store shelves or doctor's office.
Position Overview:
This role will own the development of hardware and firmware for brand-new products with electronics, influence the future of our innovative products and ensure they meet high standards of cost, quality, and schedule targets by collaborating with a distributed team.
Typical project effort is roughly 20% hardware design and 80% software development.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Engineering manager using established procedures.
The Engineer performs routine duties involving design and simple tests, may design parts of a project, translate technical guidance received from the supervisor into usable data application to a particular engineering assignment and check drawings for technical accuracy.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field - Equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Position Requirements:
0-4 years experience working within the embedded design space.
Ability to provide new product, product features, and major cost reduction ideas.
Knowledge in different Software Development Life Cycle methodologies and practices.
Up-to-date knowledge of product security.
Experience in leading product safety discussions and following up through to issue resolution.
Fluent in English (verbal & written).
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Temporary visas such as H1, F1 (OPT & STEM), are not eligible for this role.
Major Job Responsibilities:
Connect with an extended global product development team.
Form relationships with customers, while adhering to communication policies and IP control.
Provide direction to and mentor others (local or global) on firmware design, architecture, and testing.
Provide final review and/or design authority on products.
Ensure successful internal transfer of knowledge/technology to others.
