What You'll Be Doing:
The Director - Diversified Financials/Specialty Finance & Insurance will sit within US Corporate Banking's Non-Bank Financial Institutions ("NBFI") Group and report to the senior coverage bankers. In this role the banker will be responsible for deal execution, managing underwriting and supporting senior coverage bankers for client engagement. The Banker will cover a diversified portfolio of US NBFI Clients with an emphasis on Specialty Finance and Insurance sectors. The banker wAill work with partners across Capital Markets to deliver CIBC's product suite and position CIBC to provide solutions and win new opportunities. Where appropriate the banker will develop primary client relationships and drive business development.
As a key member of the team, the banker will assist in developing and advancing the US NBFI strategy in alignment with CIBC's overall strategic objectives for growing the Capital Markets business
Managing the deal execution process and supporting senior bankers in client coverage
Support, and lead where appropriate, engagement for developing and cultivating new client relationships in order to expand CIBC's US NBFI brand and franchise
How You'll Succeed:
CIBC is committed to bringing a technically strong, commercially astute and culturally aligned banker who will help support CIBC's US NBFI franchise. The role is commercially hands-on and requires strong banking and communication skills and industry engagement to support client relationship development.
Who You Are:
With a minimum 5+ years' experience and a demonstrated knowledge within the US Non-Bank Financial Institutions sector and a general understanding of the relevant core banking products for NBFI clients (Corporate Finance, Hedging, Trade Finance, DCM, ECM, Global Markets products, etc.)
Strong skills in corporate finance, credit underwriting and analysis, and ability to manage deal processes and engagement with risk, legal and other deal support providers.
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to lead the production of supporting materials with a high attention to detail (pitch decks, internal presentations, deal related committees, etc.).
Ability to work independently and proactively within a fast paced environment and collaborate with senior partners across Capital Markets.
Candidate will have proven ability to engage with business leadership and stakeholders in credit risk management to appropriately evaluate and propose new deal opportunities.
Entrepreneurial flair combined with the ability to assist in advancing the broader U.S. NBFI business strategy.
Highly effective team player, both functionally and regionally, and able to work well in a matrix structure and with cross-border stakeholders.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $200,000 for the NY, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
