Brief Job Overview
This is a non-supervisory position within the Regions & Program Operations (RPO) division responsible for executing on a comprehensive business growth plan that will focus on USP Verification activities for the Dietary Supplements Verification Program (DSVP) and Ingredients Verification Programs (IVP) for Dietary Ingredients, Excipients, and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. The Market Development Manager will be required to cultivate relationships with Industry Stakeholders including dietary supplement and dietary ingredient manufacturers, pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturers, Retailers (Pharmacy and Grocery) and Trade Industry Organizations to identify customer opportunities for the Verification program.
The incumbent will develop an understanding of relevant USP business requirements, understanding customer needs and market dynamics to help facilitate onboarding and completion through the Verification program. The Market Development Manager will also work collaboratively with the verification team, marketing, legal, and other internal stakeholders to serve as a key liaison between the customer and other USP stakeholders. This role will oversee the management of day-to-day activities including company meetings, planning, reporting and tracking to ensure delivery of key targets and growth goals. This role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong business acumen, with the ability to handle complexity and influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
In addition, this role includes support to drive acquisition of monograph donations, primarily for Excipients, on an as needed basis in support of the Excipients Program Unit Team and in collaboration with science to align and prioritize key pipeline needs.

The Market Development Manager, USP Verification Programs has the following responsibilities:
Collaborates with the USP Verification team to shape overall strategy for future growth across USP Verification programs including DSVP, IVP and GMP audit programs.
Develops an overall understanding of USP's standards and solutions (Growth Programs including DSHM, Excipients, Foods) to ensure that conversations with customers can foster broader understanding of quality and the value of USP.
Provides the information required to educate, support, and assist customers with guidance related to USP and the benefits of USP Verification.
Has the ability to provide scientific and technical support and/or leverage internal USP counterpart resources such as Science, SCD, Scientific Affairs and USP Education, for inquires and/or customer needs for greater detail and program expertise.
Identifies and develops key contacts and focused account strategies and account specific plans to develop performance targets that support overall USP Verification strategies.
Regularly executes professional presentations to customers to include, but not limited to the C-suite, Regulatory Affairs, Quality and R & D and Marketing (and their respective staff).
Maintain and strengthen relationships with current customers and business partners.
Develops and nurtures relationships with key people and decision-makers within each customer facilitating participation, collaboration and alignment across all relevant internal stakeholders.
Makes the requisite number of touch points (phone calls/emails/teleconferences/visits) documenting calls, meetings and emails in Salesforce.
Supports USP events, conferences and workshops to expand program exposure and target new leads.
Supports monograph acquisition (donation) efforts, primarily in North America, and globally as needed for the Excipients Program Unit Team (PUT).
Familiarity with Industry trade groups such as NACDS, Natural Products West, Supply Side West, Excipients World, and CPhI.
Travel can be up to 50%, both domestic and international.

Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, or a related science field required or business degree and/or related field experience.
The ideal candidate will have 3 - 4 years of experience in the U.S. supplement industry, a strong understanding of local market and manufacturing trends, and an existing network of industry contacts.
At least 2 years of experience in account management or customer facing role.
Basic understanding of 3rd party certification programs, FDA/government regulations and use of compendial and industry standards.
Basic understanding of pharmaceutical industry.
The ability to influence without direct authority.
Good interpersonal skills, communications skills, and telephone/video manner required.
Results driven with demonstrated successful outcomes.
Ability and desire to work well with diverse employees and customers in a friendly manner.
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Able to work flexible hours when needed.
Additional Desired Preferences
Combined education and experience within Dietary Supplements, Pharma/Food Excipients, and Consumer Health products.
Experienced with 3rd Party certification programs is a plus.
Experience using data analytical platforms (e.g. Tableau) and CRM platform (e.g. Sales Force).
Previous donation/stakeholder engagement (including sales) experience a plus.
Experience with regulatory compliance, quality control, quality assurance or GMP background a plus.
Account management skills required.
Strong problem-solving skills with customer-centric approach.
Excellent relationship-building skills with stakeholders.
Excellent in person & virtual presentation skills.
Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced multi-task environment.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: USD $97,000.00 - $124,750.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.
