Responsibilities You will troubleshoot an organization's network, application, or database to correct a system problems. You will analyze network utilization reports to identify, define, or correct problem areas. You will diagnose an information system to maintain reliability of services to support customers. You will discuss information assurance (IA) activities with managers to maintain a consistent approach to the IA program. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment (involves installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software systems to meet business requirements of customer); 2) Apply all applicable Information Assurance (IA) Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) patches to ensure systems availability , functionality, integrity and efficiency; 3) Research, evaluate and provide feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements; 4) Develop local guidance and procedures for implementation of mandatory technical standards, working with functional managers to evaluate impact of proposed standards and procedure; 5) Develop and manage customer service performance requirements, consult with customers to identify and specify requirements. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Specialized experience may be substituted with the following education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
