Provides Systems Manufacturing engineering leadership, technical expertise and conducts activities related to the development of new manufacturing equipment & processes technology including researching current and emerging technologies, evaluating cost, quality, and capability alternatives, and performing production equipment sustaining and optimization using problem solving and decision-making tools. Provides technical expertise in troubleshooting, design, and implementation of manufacturing equipment. Plans, coordinates, documents, and implements all qualification and validation activities of new or improved manufacturing processes. Ensures fulfillment of all regulatory, safety, industrial hygiene and environmental requirements for implementation and improvement of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Provides day-to-day tactical engineering direction and guidance for engineering associates supporting manufacturing to ensure short and long-term goals are met.
Primary lead contact for other functions such as Operations, PP&L, QA, R&D, PM, NPI as needed to achieve company goals and objectives
Assists in developing and monitoring the annual business plan
Provides training, guidance, coaching, performance appraisals, mentoring and career development for engineers.
Leads the successful implementation of new technology, processes and systems as well as continuous improvement to existing processes & technology.
Identifies, evaluates, and selects suitable technologies for medical devices manufacturing
Lead NPI activities for Systems manufacturing team with the goal of meeting program and business requirements. This should include activities related to innovation, process development and documentation,
Ensure department safety programs are implemented and maintained
Manages own projects as well as monitors projects assigned to others within the group
Reviews capital expense forecasts and addresses variance issues
Has signature authority for protocols, completion report and revises feasibility studies and development protocols
May represent company during internal, J&J Corporate and FDA audits
Promotes and observes all safety, industrial hygiene rules and regulations established by the Company
Performs statistical analysis of process and business data for decision-making
Ensure quick resolution and support to manufacturing related issues in Quality, Compliance, Service, Safety and Cost.
Reviews evaluations and gives advice on the selection of suitable equipment and systems for optimal balanced line performance. Makes final recommendations to management.
May provide technical leadership across functional teams on equipment and systems development and/or continuous improvement activities
Performs other duties assigned as needed
This position leads Staff Engineers, Senior Engineers, Engineers, Associate Engineers, and University Co-ops
This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing
Qualifications
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor Degree and/or equivalent University degree required; focused degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or any other related equivalent Engineering degree preferred.
Required:
Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional work experience
Advanced computer and database management skills
Experience with Microsoft Project
Experience successfully implementing and solving problems with manufacturing processes
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Knowledge in Computer System Validation (CSV) and Part 11 compliance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills
Experience in leading and managing projects
Knowledge of 21CFR 820, 21 CFR 4 and ISO 13485/EN ISO 13485
Knowledge of Statistical and analytical problem-solving methodologies
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Quality System Regulations (QSRs)
Ability to initiate and lead change as well as build effective teams across manufacturing and support areas in multiple facilities
Familiarized with equipment programing, equipment integration
Preferred:
Experience with MES Systems
knowledge of lean manufacturing and manufacturing processes
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification or equivalent
Project Management Certification (FPX or PMP)
Experience with Minitab
SAP Mastery
Other:
May require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel to other sites and locations

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$138,000 - $238,050/yr.
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
