We offer a flexible hybrid work environment, allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds with 3 days in the office and up to 2 days working remotely each week. This position is in Alexandria, VA.

About the role:

5 Star Life Insurance Company is seeking a Treasury Accountant to assist in our Treasury Function. This role is essential in performing various cash, disbursement, and cash accounting activities that are critical to the financial operations of the company. The Treasury Accountant will focus on general ledger duties within the department, which includes the entry of daily electronic payments, cash-related journal entries, bank reconciliations, and responding to audit inquiries.

The position also involves preparing cash forecasting and liquidity projections, assisting in the development of cash trend reports and summaries, and contributing to the preparation of monthly key cash performance-indicator metrics reports. Responsibility for complying with state requirements for coordinating the reporting and filing of unclaimed property reports by the required due dates. An element of the position requires timely and accurate production of various assigned state insurance department regulatory filings.

Below are some of the major job responsibilities:

Cash Management and Accounting: Enter and record daily electronic payments, monitor cash levels, analyze cash balances, and prepare bank reconciliations.

Financial Reporting and Compliance: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, month-end closing, and ensure compliance with state requirements for unclaimed property reporting and regulatory filings.

Issue Resolution and Process Improvement: Investigate and resolve payment issues, track and review disbursement activities, and work with internal and external partners on process improvements.

Communication and Coordination: Act as a liaison with other work groups to ensure accurate cash accounting, assist online banking users, and communicate effectively with management regarding cash balance and funding needs.

Administrative and Project Support: Perform various project-related tasks, handle daily administrative duties, and ensure compliance with company data standards and integrity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

4-year accounting degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 1-2 or more years of related work experience.
