Description
The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Center for Quantum Computing in Pasadena, CA, is looking to hire a senior hardware development engineer with expertise in proto@type machining and medium production manufacturing. The candidate should have expertise in CNC machining and CAM programming for both 3 and 5 axis vertical machining centers as well as strong design for manufacturing knowledge. Working effectively within a cross-functional team is critical.
Key job responsibilities
Our scientists and engineers collaborate across diverse teams and projects to offer state of the art, cost effective solutions for scaling the signal delivery to AWS quantum processor systems at cryogenic temperatures. You will help support this endeavor by bringing passion, enthusiasm, and proactivity to work on the following:
CAM programming for 3 and 5 axis machines
Fixture development/setup and tool selection/setup
CNC machine operations for rapid proto@type and medium production scale
Logistical support within the manufacturing workflow
Documentation, DFM reviews, and metrics reporting

Basic Qualifications
CNC Machining Certification or equivalent experience
5+ year of CNC machinery CAM and operation
Superior problem solving and analytical skills
Communication, documentation, and presentation skills
Effective working in an engineering team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree or higher
8+ year of CNC machinery CAM and operation
Experience with Haas CNC machines
Manual machinist skillset
Experience machining copper
Experience working closely with other engineers as well as scientists and technicians covering a wide range of technical skill levels
Curiosity and capability to rapidly learn new techniques or technical topics

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
