We are looking for a 2nd Shift Quality Technician.
Impact of the Role:
The Quality Technician supports activities related to the implementation, maintenance, control, and monitoring of quality systems and standards which monitor, assess, and approve the quality of materials and products at all stages of production, in accordance with corporate quality policies, applicable regulatory requirements, ISO requirements, and customer specifications/expectations.
Additionally, the technician is responsible for the timely sampling, inspection and determination of acceptability of finished goods and work-in-process materials. He/she is also responsible for communication of product quality standards and assisting production operators in achievement of those standards. He/she will be required to work in manufacturing areas and to run production equipment to monitor product quality.
As with all positions at SGPPL Poestenkill, this employee will follow all work practices, policies and procedures keep the facility in compliance with the ISO 9001 Standard as well as maintain standard 5S protocols. Compliance with all site EHS policies and safe work habits are mandated at all times.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Accurately samples and tests both incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods in accordance with established specifications. utilizing both laboratory and manufacturing equipment. Equipment may subject employee to chemical, temperature and moving parts/blades thus safety will be the priority.
Communicates product quality standards to production personnel and assists them to meet those standards as necessary. May include the running of manufacturing machinery to ensure product quality.
Makes determinations, based on written standards and judgement, of the status of tested material, i.e.: Acceptable, Hold, Reject.
Files and maintains organized Quality records
Maintains a safe, neat and organized Lab and Lab equipment in accordance with area 5S standards.
Communicate and cooperate with fellow employees to maintain quality, operational efficiency and safety.
Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
Report nonconformance condition (either product or process) to supervision as required.
Participate in self-development and training of others.
Perform other related duties as required or as directed by supervisor.
Understands and complies with all Quality policies and significant impact of job activities in accordance with the ISO Quality Management System.
Understand all safety, health and environmental policies and significant impact of job activities in accordance with the the EHS Management System.

Qualifications and Expectations:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Associates Degree in Technical or Scientific discipline (or working towards a degree) preferred.
Experience or training in Quality Assurance principals and practices.
Mechanical "hands-on" experience.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication skills, written, and verbal.
Able to read, interpret, and follow SOP's, labels, instructions, specifications, reference materials.
Ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical information.
Knowledge of Saint-Gobain products and processes necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
Able to operate department specific equipment and instrumentation necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
Computer and data collection hardware and software skills necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
Math skills necessary to fulfill job responsibilities (may include SPC, statistics, geometry, algebra).

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is 19.00 - $25.00 per hour, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10 % of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
