JOB OVERVIEW:
A Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for driving topline revenue through strategy in traditional sales market segments. The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for market trend and competitive analysis, market share movement, recruitment, and department management while directing the property sales to ensure budgeted revenues are met or exceeded. The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the overall marketing strategy of the hotel as well as setting and managing the hotel budgets that support all the efforts above.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Direct the sales efforts of the sales team through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date, and space commitments for group room sales, catering and business travel sales within the hotel.
Direct marketing efforts of the sales staff through strategy development and marketing execution.
Regularly perform business evaluation with sales and revenue team to ensure highest level of top line revenue is captured.
Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and Crescent standards of performance are met. Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement.
Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales department to include, but not limited to, the annual and monthly forecast, marketing budget, lead management system, booking report, and star report.
Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for the development of new strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets,
Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
Meet and entertain clients, some of which will require travel.
Maintain knowledge of the hotel's competitive set and adjust sell strategy accordingly.
Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to the team.
Initiate the preparation of computerized annual Sales & Marketing plan and execute plan as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary based on current market conditions.
Organize and/or attend Sales departmental and related meetings.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
Attention to detail
Extensive skill in development and delivery of sales presentations
Knowledge of St Louis market
Experience working collaboratively with a revenue management team
Experience presenting to and communicating with an ownership group
Basic knowledge of hotel operations
Ability to effectively manage and motivate internal and external customers to promote a collaborative environment
Knowledge of sales systems (CITY, Cvent, Social Tables, The Knot, Tour Connections)
