Job Description Summary
This position is the for the Additive post process leader at GE Aerospace's Additive Technology Center. The role is focused on leading the Post Process Engineering team at the ATC to ensure on-time delivery of both commercial and military additive component hardware as well as leading the development of new processes for various programs. In addition, this role will interface with the design engineering team to ensure the design intent and tolerances offer a balance of performance and producibility. Seeking an experienced leader with the ability to lead through changing product mix while developing strategy for the future outlook of facility.
The Additive Technology Center Post Process leader will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives within additive commodity. In this role, you will lead a team that is responsible for ensuring post process technologies (conventional and nonconventional machining, powder removal, cleaning, thermal processing, laser marking, fixture creation, and more) are appropriately integrated into additive product designs and hardware. In this role you will contribute to technology roadmaps in additive DB40 post processing pillar. Drive Flight Deck culture within the team and throughout additive organization. You will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in both short and long-term planning, on time delivery to the customer and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead Post Process Engineering team with a culture that promotes safety, inclusion, and sense of belonging and with a motivation to ensure seamless execution across a variety of company and customer funded programs with directly applied employees
Develop strategies and standard work for the implementation of new technologies and processes for additive NPI hardware
Assist design engineers and manufacturing engineers in aligning additive drawing requirements with post processing best practices and standard work
Maintain ample awareness of technical efforts within the work group to assure technical excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources and consistency of methods across programs
Provide administrative management and define roles and responsibilities of assigned team members
Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning
Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching, and counseling
Review short and mid-term development plans, working with Site leader to establish staffing plans to ensure sufficient manpower and skillset is available to support a variety of simultaneous development programs
Accountable for establishing, monitoring, and communicating program plans, project status, business issues, and significant developments as appropriate within and outside department
Work collaboratively with Design and Systems Engineering teams, GRC, production and global additive sites and Supply Chain leaders to formulate technical solutions and strategies that align with long term business objectives
Support manufacturing facilities to industrialize additive manufacturing supply chain processes
Develop technical solutions and partner with other IPT technical leadership to implement and transition products to high volume production facilities.
Be a Flight Deck coach for your sub-section and drive standard work within your team
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with Engineering and Supply Chain policies and procedures
Ensure procedures are established and adhered to, maintaining high-quality Engineering and laboratory activities that conform to Engineering Standards, Design Practices, and applicable Operating Procedures
Lead and facilitate regular communication of technical and business information between organizations, within the work group and with senior business leaders
Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of relevant manufacturing and/or engineering experience)
Minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing and / or engineering experience
Desired Characteristics:
Master's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a management position, leading a team
Prior experience with manufacturing process development, ideally TRL/MRL process experience
Experience with additive technology/manufacturing in the aerospace industry.
Experience in developing cross-product business strategies and managing budgets.
Established project management skills
Previous experience with lean and associated tools
Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to train and motivate others
Proven analytical and organizational ability
Experience in leading customer meetings
