Minimum qualifications:

JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.

7 years of experience as a practicing attorney focused on employment law at a law firm or as in-house counsel for a company.

Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in advising on compensation-related matters and wage and hour issues.

Experience in advising on Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning matters.

Experience providing employment law advice and counsel to a multinational employer.

Experience in interacting with NLRB, EEOC, state and local EEO agencies matters.

Experience in direct or indirect (e.g., via a secondment) in-house.

Ability to be flexible in a changing environment with limited direction, balance competing priorities, and manage several time-sensitive projects at once.

As a member of the Employment Legal team, you will work on the most exciting legal issues as disruptive technological innovations require creative and proactive legal guidance. You will be part of a whip-smart group of in-house lawyers and specialists, where the projects and cases you handle will test you to think big and differently. You will be collaborative and ready to partner in initiatives that influence all aspects of the business and work with Googlers from all over the company.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $239,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Manage and supervise outside counsel on all @types of employment litigation, including class, collective, and representative actions, single plaintiff actions, matters involving novel legal theories, agency inquiries and charges, audits, and pre-litigation disputes.

Advice on a broad range of employment issues, including HR policies/practices; employee relations issues and investigations involving misconduct, retaliation, discrimination, and harassment; performance management, recruiting, hiring, employee and executive exits; severance; and leaves and reasonable accommodations.

Advise on compensation-related matters, including compensation design proposals, commission plans, compliance with pay transparency laws, wage and hour issues, and leveling and job architecture matters.

Advise on matters arising out of the development and use of AI technology in recruiting/hiring, compliance, and other employment processes.

Draft and review employment documents, including offer letters, employment agreements, separation agreements, and HR policies.
